High Strength HDPE Geocell
The high-strength geocell is a honeycomb shaped geocell composed of PET sheets. It is a kind of 3D limiting material. The joint of the PET high-strength geocell sheets is provided with connection holes, which are made up of small holes running through each other, and the joint of the adjacent tensile strips is respectively clamped by symmetrical connection pieces . PET high-strength geocells retain their structural advantages on the basis of ordinary cells, and increase the tensile strength, reduce the elongation and enhance the rigidity of the cells in response to the shortcomings of ordinary geocells, such as low tensile strength, high elongation, too soft and inconvenient etc. The product has a higher effectiveness and safety in the treatment of poor ground, and can better strengthen and stabilize various of poor foundations.
At present, in the construction projects of highways, railways, aviation, water transport terminals, etc., especially soft soils, saline soils, swelling soils, mudstone caused by loess reconstruction, desert highways, high technology highway filling and excavation junction, high fill, embankment roads and other special situations, it necessary to use the reinforcing material set in the soil body in order to ensure the quality of the project.
According related standards, all reinforcing materials should has the elongation of less than 16% and high tensile strength in order to effectively control problems such as cracking, dislocation, collapse, and local uplift caused by uneven settlement of soil
The degree of lateral restraint of the geocell to the filling of the cell depends on the ultimate tensile strength, shear resistance, and peel resistance of the joints of the cell nodes. At present, most of the strips used in geocells are PE sheet which is not through stretching processing and jointed through ultrasonic welding,this resulting in low tensile strength (20MPa), and high elongation (300-500%). PET high-strength geocells, on the other hand, have very clear technical index advantages over PE welded geocells in road construction applications through their low elongation (13%), very high ultimate sheet tensile strength (140 Kn/m) and peel strength at joints (110 Kn/m).
PET high-strength geocell is a 3D mesh structure material in the shape of a honeycomb after unfolding, and belongs to special geosynthetic materials. In rock engineering, it is used together with fillers such as soil, sand and stone to form bedding layers with different cohesive forces, different reinforcement strengths and different depths. These bedding layers can be placed in the required position according to the requirements of the project and are used to strengthen road foundations, protect slopes and build retaining walls. Its most important feature is that it can be used for a variety of difficult problems in rock engineering that are difficult to deal with by conventional methods, such as bridge head jumping, soft foundation subsidence,overturning and landslides. It has the characteristics of light material, abrasion resistance, ageing resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, wide range of applicable temperature, high tensile strength, good rigidity and toughness, strong impact resistance, relatively stable size and convenient transportation. The construction method is easy and simple, thus simplifying the construction process and improving the construction speed.Also it can be used repeatedly for many times.
